Emergency management protects communities by coordinating and integrating all activities necessary to build, sustain, and improve the capability to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from threatened or actual natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or other man-made disasters. The office provides county residents, businesses and industries, non-profit organizations, and local jurisdictions the education and support necessary to reduce the loss of life and human suffering; to minimize property damage; and to protect environmental sensitive areas from all types of disasters through a comprehensive, risk-based, all-hazard emergency management program. This overall effort provides integrated and comprehensive emergency management services in a cost-effective, implementable, and sustainable manner necessary to mitigate all-hazards that may impact the county.
